Directly from the family estate collection of Barney Stein comes this 8" by 10" original photo of Jackie Robinson trotting home ahead of a Roy Campanella home run. A little research determined that this was Opening Day in 1953 when Campy hit a three-run dinger in the 4th inning that knocked in Duke Snider and Robinson. (Bunting along the stands and #29 Don Thompson following Campy in the order were great clues.) Brooklyn went on to win 8-5 over the Pirates at Ebbets Field. For the Dodgers Hall of Fame catcher, it was his first of 41 homers and an NL-best 141 RBI that season (both career highs) as he won his second MVP award.The flawless photo was printed off its original negative from the famous Dodgers photographer's camera many years later. The reverse has a Barney Stein stamp.
