Presented here is an official CONMEBOL Copa America 2021 Champions Gold Medal awarded to a member of Argentina's triumphant squad, marking the nation's 15th Copa America title and first major international trophy since 1993. It was also the first major title won by Lionel Messi for his beloved nation.
The large-format circular gold-toned medal features the embossed Copa America trophy image at center surrounded by the tournament's distinctive geometric pattern motif along the obverse, with "Al Campeón," the CONMEBOL Copa America trademark, and "2021" prominently inscribed. The reverse bears an embossed continental fingerprint map of South America alongside the CONMEBOL founding year "1916." The medal is suspended from an original navy blue satin ribbon in excellent condition showing minimal wear.
The medal itself displays strong relief detail throughout with only minor handling evident. Argentina defeated Brazil 1-0 in the final played at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, ending a 28-year trophy drought for La Albiceleste. This tournament proved to be a crowning moment for an all-time generation of Argentine footballers –most notably Leo, Ángel Di María and Sergio Agüero – and represents an important milestone in the nation's storied football history.
