For nearly two decades, the three-headed monster of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic dominated men’s tennis and delivered the most epic individual battles in the sport’s 100+ year history. With Federer retired and Nadal’s career nearing its end, Djokovic has now separated himself from the legendary trio with 24 Grand Slam titles. Still going strong at age 37, he stands two majors ahead of Nadal and four clear of Federer. It’s only a matter of time before Djoker secures number 25 to stand alone among men and women – Margaret Court also has 24 – as the all-time leader in major championships.
Featured here is Novak Djokovic’s 2019 French Open match-worn and autographed Lacoste polo shirt with outstanding provenance. The Serbian legend wore this same style in two matches at Roland Garros. During the 2019 season, Djoker and Nadal took turns atop the ATP poll and split the four majors. Novak won the Aussie Open and Wimbledon while Rafa claimed the French and U.S. Open titles.
The white polo shirt (size M) has player-exclusive tagging from Lacoste, Djokovic’s longtime apparel brand. The design includes orange and black accents on the front with the Lacoste alligator logo on the left chest, sponsor Ultimate Software on the right sleeve, and Novak’s player logo on the left sleeve. Lacoste’s written logo appears on the right sleeve and upper back. The French Open logo appears on the right shirttail. Djoker has autographed the lower front in black marker, with evidence of being signed when sweaty.
Djokovic’s semifinal match vs. Dominic Thiem began on Friday, June 7, but rain and high winds delayed its finish. Play resumed on Saturday, June 8, with Thiem prevailing in five sets. Djoker wore this style on the suspended Friday as well as during his 3rd round victory over Salvatore Caruso of Italy. The non-unique manufacturing characteristics make photo-matching it extremely difficult. Sports Investors has authenticated the outfit as match-worn during the 2019 French Open. Includes PSA/DNA sticker certification for the autograph.
