An exceptional low-numbered autograph commemorating one of the most memorable debuts in modern baseball, this 2018 Topps Now #32B Shohei Ohtani Blue Autograph is serial numbered 39/49. The card celebrates April 3, 2018, when Ohtani launched a three-run homer off Cleveland's Josh Tomlin in his first at-bat at Angel Stadium, his first Major League home run. The front captures the follow-through of that swing, Ohtani in his red Angels home jersey (#17), alongside the official Rookie Card logo and the caption "First Career HR Comes in First AB of Home Debut." A bold, beautifully applied blue-ink signature crosses the image, accompanied by the designation "Topps Certified Autograph Issue."

The reverse shows the moment that followed, with Ohtani mobbed by teammates, including Mike Trout and Luis Valbuena, in the dugout. Text notes that the signing of all Topps autograph cards is witnessed by Topps representatives.

Ohtani went on to win the 2018 American League Rookie of the Year Award and has since rewritten baseball's record books as a two-way superstar, earning multiple unanimous MVP awards, becoming the first player to record a 50-homer, 50-steal season and helping lead the Dodgers to World Series titles.

This example has been graded MINT 9 by PSA, with the autograph authenticated by PSA/DNA (cert. #175571615). As of this write up, it is the sole example at this grade, with only one graded higher (PSA Pop 1, 1 higher). A premier Ohtani rookie-year autograph from a limited print run.
