After a disappointing result in the 2016 Finals, the Golden State Warriors glided through the 2016-17 regular season thanks to their triumvirate core of Steph, Klay and Dray, plus the team's shiny new toy, Kevin Durant. The Splash Brothers and their defensive stalwart now had a 7-footer with incredible handle and unstoppable scoring ability, making them one of the most formidable teams in NBA history. After going 67-15, the Dubs did not lose a single game during the first three rounds of the 2017 Western Conference playoffs. They then got sweet revenge on LeBron's Cavs in the Finals in a five-game gentleman's sweep. Through it all, even with KD winning Finals MVP, Stephen Curry remained the true leader of Steve Kerr's squad.
Presented here is a pair of Steph's Under Armour shoes worn in practice sessions during the 2017 NBA Finals that lasted June 1-12. The UA 'Curry 4' player-exclusive sneakers come in a black colorway with white midsoles emblazoned with Curry's clever "SC/30" logo in gold on each side. The high-top style features a thin ankle layer with a gold-colored "IV SC/30" tab on the inner side. The black suede canvas with matching color laces and the thick rubber outsoles with an elevated arch to fit Curry's foot shape give the design a sleek look and customized feel. On the rear outers of each shoe, Curry has signed his name with "2017 Finals PE" inscribed in bold silver marker. The autographs really pop against the black background. Properly tagged on the interior by Under Armour in Curry's size 12.5, the shoes display obvious wear throughout, with creasing on the white midsoles, stretching on the black canvas, sweat staining on the insoles and heel drag on the outsoles. Clearly, these were worn multiple times by Steph.
These Steph dual-signed and worn PEs come directly from his personal memorabilia dealer, USA Sports Marketing. On June 7th in Cleveland, Steph wore this same style and colorway in Game 3 during warm-ups and in the game. There are several Getty images showing Steph the day before wearing them during a June 6th shoot-around at Quicken Loans Arena alongside KD and assistant coach Bruce Fraser. The shoes Steph wore in Game 3 during the game were inscribed in his patented bible verse, but his warm-up and practice pair were un-inscribed in images and could very well be this pair. The Warriors surely had a few closed-door practice sessions during the 12-day Finals span as well. According to Curry's dealer, these were signed and worn during that time frame. Autographs certified by Fanatics, Beckett, and USA Sports Marketing.
