The 2017 season started so promisingly for San Francisco Giants ace and 2014 World Series hero Madison Bumgarner. The southpaw from North Carolina became the first pitcher in MLB history to hit two home runs on opening day. Oh by the way he also went seven strong with 11 K’s and no free passes allowing three earned on six hits. Unfortunately the bullpen blew the save and wasted Bumgarner’s historic day at the dish. It was a sign of things to come for the Giants who surprisingly finished last in the NL West for the first time in ten years. The team’s fate was all but determined when Mad Bum severely injured his left throwing shoulder in a dirt bike accident three weeks later on an off-day in Arizona. He would start just 17 games and recorded a 3.32 ERA with little run support leading to a 4-9 record. Still he struck out 101 batters in 111 innings of work. The jersey includes the “San Francisco Giants Baseball Club” embroidered patch on the left sleeve. The back of the jersey which includes the official MLB black white and orange vinyl logo just below the outside rear collar shows his uniform number “40” in 8.5” tall numbers made of black tackle twill outlined in orange and gold.
