Lonzo Ball was the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft and quickly became a new hope of sorts for the struggling Los Angeles Lakers. Magic Johnson President of Basketball Operations at the time assured Ball and Lakers fans that the young player would become the “New Face of the Lakers.” The pressure must have been intense for an unproven guard coming into a league consisting of superstars at the point such as Russell Westbrook Damon Lillard Chris Paul and Steph Curry. Ball quickly established himself as an exciting pass-first point guard and an occasional outside threat with his unorthodox shooting style. He averaged 10.2 points per game and tallied 7.2 assists and 6.9 rebounds during 52 games in action. Ball also nabbed a pair of triple-doubles during his first 20 games joining Magic as the only other player to have done so. After joining the New Orleans Pelicans in the offseason Ball has a very bright future and is primed to lead the Pelis to multiple playofff berths alongside Zion Williamson Brandon Ingram and company.
Presented in this lot is Lonzo’s 2017-18 game-worn Lakers home white alternate uniform. The jersey and trunks features Nike Vapor’s basketball specific AeroSwift technology designed to keep players dry and cool during game play. “LAKERS" and Ball's No. "2" are sewn on the front of the white jersey in purple tackle twill outlined in gold. The Nike swoosh is in purple and resides on the right shoulder and the Lakers “Wish” jersey sponsor patch is sewn on the left. "BALL" is sewn on the upper back in purple tackle twill with his number "2" below in the same format as the front. The lower left front tail has the NBA Authentics tagging with size 46 and the jersey's specific tracking code (LALW 00737). The matching pair of white Nike shorts trimmed with gold and purple on the sides has the Lakers logo on the front of the elastic waistband and “L” logos on each outer thigh. They are properly tagged in the inside rear waist with the NBA Authentics size 38 label upon which Lonzo's number "2" is handwritten in black marker. This full uniform displays light to moderate wear and comes from a reliable source with direct team access.
