Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant was a pivotal piece to the puzzle that became the 2016 World Series Champions. The 24-year-old out of Univ. of San Diego selected No. 2 overall by the Cubs in the first round of the 2013 draft turned in a sophomore season for the ages as he batted .292 scored a league-leading 121 runs clubbed 39 homers and drove in 102 runs. To no one’s surprise he was named National League MVP. But the crowning achievement for that campaign was helping deliver the first World Series championship for the Cubs since 1908. It was Bryant who recorded the assist on the game’s final out. This lot features a game used two-toned Marucci pro model bat Bryant swung during that monumental season.
The 34-inch maple bat (model KB17.2) weighs 31.5 ounces and includes a handle crack as well as a half-inch by 6.5-inch piece missing from said crack. Multiple ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on all sides of the bat’s barrel. Many of those ball marks include blue ink transfers. The handle has been taped approximately 9” long in a spiral pattern of blue-and-white Lizard Skin tape to enhance his grip. A light coat of pine tar exists right on the Marucci logo. The date of manufacture (02/08/16) Bryant’s uniform number "17" length symbol "4" (for 34") and weight symbol "1 o" (i.e. 31 oz.) are all engraved into the knob end along with a CELEBZ hologram sticker with a corresponding COA for provenance.
Includes Game Used LOA from bat expert John Taube of PSA/DNA. Also comes with a COA (copy) from Cubs minor league coach Jesus Feliciano manager of Eugene Emeralds (short-season A) 2016-17.
