ADDENDUM: Upon further review bat cannot definitively be "photo-matched" to Game 4 of the World Series. It does have all the characteristics of one Cain used during the 2014 Fall Classic.
Kansas City Royals centerfielder Lorenzo Cain had a breakout season in 2014 batting .301 stealing 28 bags and playing gold-glove caliber defense. His high-energy play helped carry the Royals into the postseason and all the way to the World Series. Cain batted a scorching .533 in the ALCS and was named MVP of the series vs. Baltimore. He continued his hot-hitting in the World Series against the Giants with a .308 clip and 4 RBI but his team came up just short in a thrilling 7-game series. Their return to the 2015 Fall Classic this past October was a successful one giving fans in K.C. their first taste of Championship glory in 30 years.
This Lorenzo Cain Old Hickory signature model 34.0 PRO MAPLE DP15 bat (coded 1105440-LC3) was game-used by Cain during the 2014 season. The uncracked bat was presented as 2014 World Series used and it has all the physical characteristics of the same type of bat Cain used during the Fall Classic. The white taped handle is blackened with pine tar (presumably rubbed off from Cains batting gloves) and the entire bat is covered in a mixture of ball cleat and bat rack marks. A 31 is marked in pencil on the knob which corresponds to the 31 oz. weight of the 34-inch bat. A small gouge near the label is the only blemish to this beautiful piece of lumber; otherwise it may have stayed in the rotation of Cains gamers. Excellent gamer from the 2015 All-Star and World Series Champion a rising star in the league for years to come!
