The Seattle Seahawks selected Nick Vannett with their third round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. ESPN’s John Clayton called the 6’6” 260 lb. tight end out of Ohio State University the “steal of the draft.” With Jimmy Graham on the roster it remains to be seen what role he will have in the 2016 season but apparently the ‘Hawks expect big things from the guy who is getting comparison to Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski. In OSU's 2014-15 National Championship victory over Oregon Vannett caught the go-ahead TD in the first quarter and the Buckeyes never looked back.

Featured here an impressive uniform trio of Vannett’s game-worn jersey pants and helmet from his 2013 sophomore season one that ended with the Buckeyes’ 40-35 loss to Clemson in the BCS Orange Bowl on January 3 2014. The red jersey has the “DISCOVER ORANGE BOWL” patch on the left chest. His No. 81 appears on the front back and shoulders in silver tackle twill. His last name appears in black on the back over a red mesh nameplate.  “BIG” Ten Ohio State and Nike logo patches are sewn to upper chest. Nike tagging appears on the left front tail with size “46” and “L” LENGTH +4 plus a “13” year flag tag. Vannett has signed the front and back on the “1” with the inscription “Go Bucks!” in bold black marker. The jersey shows excellent wear with contact marks on the black red and white shoulders/sleeves. The matching gray pants come in size 36 with his No. “81” written in black on the interior Nike tagging. They show great game use with heavy pilling on the rear and are signed and inscribed by Vannett on the left thigh just like the jersey.

Buckeye helmets are one of the most decorative and unique in all of college football and this one does not disappoint. 30 stickers resembling Buckeye leaves adorn the left side of the silver shell each one rewarded for a good play or performance from Vannett. The Riddell helmet comes in size L with a “NOV-2012” manufacturing sticker inside the left earhole and a “INITIAL SEASON 2013” sticker on the opposite side. His No. 81 is found on an interior sticker with an “81” black decal on the back above the “BUCKEYES” rear neck pad. A “BIG” Ten sticker covers the Riddell sticker on the forehead. The chinstrap has been removed but all other elements come as-issued and problem free. Vannett has signed and inscribed the right outer shell in bold black Sharpie. It shows outstanding game use with contact marks on the exterior.

Game photos indicate that this set was worn in at least two OSU regular season home games (9/28 vs. Wisconsin and 10/26 vs. Penn State) at the Horseshoe. Only the jersey can definitively be attributed to the Orange Bowl as it has the game patch. All three items come directly from Vannett through his agency Rep 1 Sports.
