Here then is an extraordinary collectible produced in conjunction with the great Mariano Rivera's final swing around the American League in 2013 with the MLB All-Star Game held at Citi Field in Queens New York City the home of the New York Mets. This was the first time that the Mets had hosted an All-Star Game since 1964 the team's inaugural season at Shea Stadium and the ninth time the All-Star Game was held in New York City. The game was last held in New York City in 2008 when the old Yankee Stadium hosted it in its final season before being demolished.
The American League shut out the National League for the seventh time in All-Star game history marking the first time that there have been shutouts in consecutive All-Star games. The Yankees' Mariano Rivera was named the All-Star Game Most Valuable Player the first reliever selected to an All-Star team to ever receive the award as well as the first pitcher since Pedro Mart’nez in 1999 and the second Yankee ever after Derek Jeter in 2000.
This 2013 All-Star Game Authentic jersey is a unique limited edition with a custom Mariano Rivera 2013 All-Star Game shoulder patch serving to record the edition number - No. 203 of 420. The blue American League jersey carries Size 48 Majestic tagging on the collar and "ASG 2013 Flushing NY" tagging on the front tail. Rivera has signed atop his number of the back in silver Sharpie adding the inscription "2013 ASG MVP." The 2013 All-Star Game patch appears on the left shoulder; as noted previously the edition-size custom patch appears on the right shoulder.
Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Steiner Sports as well as hologram COAs for both his autograph and inscription.
