Offered here is a Los Angeles Dodgers 2013 Postseason game worn and signed home jersey from the Brian Wilson Collection. "The Beard" switched his number to "00" during his final two years with the Dodgers (2013-14), but the jet black facial hair and wild hairstyles remained. After returning to the mound in August 2013 following a 16-month recovery from Tommy John surgery, Wilson was used primarily as the Dodgers 8th inning set-up guy for closer Kenley Jansen. He allowed just one earned run in 13-2/3 innings during the regular season.
In the 2013 playoffs, B-Weezy got the ball six times (three in ALDS vs. ATL; three in NLCS vs. STL) and pitched a scoreless inning each outing. Amazingly, in 18 career postseason innings, he never gave up an earned run, striking out 25 with just ten hits and seven walks.
The white jersey has the classic Dodgers crest patch in blue cursive on the front with Wilson's double zero number in red below. His name and number appear on the back in blue tackle twill. The MLB 2013 postseason patch is sewn on the right sleeve, while the left sleeve dons the LA logo patch. Wilson has signed the back '0' in silver permanent marker for nice eye appeal. Properly tagged by Majestic on the left front tail, the size 46 shirt has a white strip tag inside the collar reading "00 Wilson 46 2013." It shows evident wear with multiple wash cycles based on the interior laundry instructions tag. The autograph has been certified by PSA/DNA. Includes LOA from Wilson.
SCP is excited to present the Brian Wilson Collection with all items coming straight from Wilson himself. Drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 2003 out of LSU, the 6’ 1” flame-thrower developed into a reliable big-league reliever and earned the closer job in 2008. Over the next four seasons, “B-Weezy” saved 163 games (most in MLB during that span) and earned three NL All-Star nods. Most importantly, he helped the Giants snap a 56-year title drought in 2010 and win their first World Series in San Francisco. Sporting a thick black beard, mohawk, tattoos and flashy cleats on the mound, Wilson was a fan favorite and true 1-of-1 with moxie, flair, and a big heart. His “Fear the Beard” mantra became a pop culture phenomenon in the Bay Area and beyond. After picking up his second World Series ring with the Giants in 2012, Wilson played his final two seasons with the Dodgers and settled in Los Angeles after retirement.
