At the 2012 London Olympics, Roger Federer authored one of the most memorable runs of his career, reaching the singles gold medal match at Wimbledon's Centre Court. After a marathon four-hour, twenty-six-minute semifinal victory over Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina, he ultimately fell to home favorite Andy Murray in the final and had to settle for the silver medal.
Offered here is one of Federer's match-used Wilson racquets from the 2012 Olympic tournament, sourced directly from Federer's inner circle. The Wilson Pro Staff 'Six.One 90' comes in white, gold, and red, bearing his official facsimile signature near the throat and the "BLX" performance technology branding along the frame, with visible racquet-specific identifying markings and a well-worn grip consistent with tournament play.
Within the throat are the racquet's specifications stamped in black (weight 339 g, balance 30.5 cm, string pattern 15x19, etc.) along with a white sticker labeled "MON 22.5" to denote the day it was strung (Monday) and its string tension (22.5 kg). There is a silver hologram sticker near the top of the handle apparently from Wilson with a serial number QR code, but we were unable to decipher any meaning from it. The white grip has become pinkish from use, storage and age. Stock mages online from the 2012 Olympics show Fed using the same model and colorway racquet throughout, and he probably went through a couple dozen racquets in the ten matches he played. Unfortunately, it is unknown in which match this example saw action. The very top of the outer frame has some court scrapes. According to our consignor's source within Fed's team, this racquet was used during the Olympics and restrung afterwards.
Federer's 2012 Olympic silver medal in singles came on the same Wimbledon grass where he had won a record seven singles titles. A distinctive piece of tennis memorabilia connecting one of the sport's greatest champions to Olympic competition. Includes a letter of provenance from our consignor, a longtime tennis collector who has attended many major tennis events and is well-connected to several prominent players' inner circles.
