Christian Thompson was selected in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. A six-foot 211-pound safety out of South Carolina State Thompson was taken with the 130th overall pick. Though his professional football career only played out in seven games over two seasons (2012 and ’13) he was in the right place at the right time as the Ravens won Super Bowl XLVII over the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 on Feb. 3 2013 at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans Louisiana.
Offered here is Thompson’s spectacular Super Bowl XLVII ring made of 10K white gold in the defensive back’s rather large size 13. Identical to those issued to head coach John Harbaugh linebacker Ray Lewis and quarterback Joe Flacco it is easily one of the flashiest showpieces ever produced for any pro sports championship featuring 245 diamonds (3.75 carats) plus purple amethyst yellow gold and red enamel. Beyond its elaborate shank designs the ring boasts additional season information including the team’s four playoff victories that season. The left shank includes “2012” in small diamonds while framing the Lombardi trophy the Superdome and the words “SUPER BOWL XLVII.” The right shank reads “THOMPSON” above the Ravens insignia the team’s motto (“PLAY LIKE A RAVEN”) and Thompson’s uniform number “33.” Engraved inside the band is the Ravens logo and “JOSTENS©10K.” The jaw-dropping dazzler weighs 86 grams and comes in absolutely pristine condition having barely ever been worn.
The ring comes in its original black presentation box with a recessed Ravens logo on the lid's top along with a frosted-mirror design of the Ravens shield and "CHRISTIAN THOMPSON" on the lid's underside. Just an incredible showpiece representing the team’s second Super Bowl title since the start of the new millennium. A 2012 player example (D.J. Bryant) sold for $68000 at auction just last year.
