Sheryl Swoopes was the first player to be signed in the WNBA when the league was formed in 1997. It was Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Rebecca Lobo who became the original three faces of women's professional basketball. The Naismith College Player of the Year in 1993 when she led her Texas Tech Lady Raiders to the NCAA title, Swoopes got a late start to her first season with the Houston Comets due to the birth of her son, but that didn't stop her from helping guide them to the inaugural WNBA title. In fact, the Comets won the league's first four championships thanks to the "Big Three" of Swoopes, Cynthia Cooper and Tina Thompson.

During her 11 years with Houston, the star shooting guard and small forward became the first three-time WNBA MVP (2000, '02 & '05) and the first three-time league Defensive Player of the Year (2000, '02 & '03). Swoopes has won three Olympic gold medals. Her final season in the WNBA came in 2011 as a member of the Tulsa Shock. She was named one of the league's Top 15 All Time Players at the 2011 WNBA All-Star Game and was elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.

Offered here is Swoopes' 2011 Tulsa Shock game worn and signed road jersey that has been conclusively photo-matched to 12 games from her farewell campaign. At the age of 40, Swoopes averaged 8.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists. On August 26, 2011, while wearing this jersey, Swoopes hit the game-winning jumper at the buzzer as the Shock knocked off the Los Angeles Sparks, 77–75. Her final road game on September 9th was also at Staples Center against the Sparks. Our consignor, a Hollywood actor, was in attendance with his young daughter. After the game, Swoopes gifted her jersey to his daughter who would go on to play college basketball at a top D-1 program.

The Adidas Clima Cool jersey comes in Size L and is properly tagged on the left front tail. Black with yellow accents on the shoulders and three stripes down the sides, the "TULSA" letters are pressed across the chest in yellow, with the team logo on the upper left and adidas logo on the upper right. Her No. "22" is sewn on the front and back in white felt. "SWOOPES" is sewn on the back in white tackle twill. A decal of the team's jersey sponsor, Boost Mobile was added during the season. The shirt displays heavy game use and wash wear, having been recycled for at least 12 games and likely more. Swoopes autographed the top of the rear outer neck in faded black marker next to the WNBA logo. Includes photo-match paperwork from Resolution Photomatching. Signature certified by PSA/DNA.
