Though he is largely known by virtue of his pitching successes for the Oakland As dynasty teams from the early 1970s right-handed pitcher Vida Blue played six seasons for the San Francisco Giants including the final two campaigns from his 17-year big league career. His final numbers were impressive to say the least: 209 victories 2175 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.27.
This lot features a 2010 San Francisco Giants World Series Champions ring that was awarded to Blue following the teams first Fall Classic victory since 1954. In recent years he has has been serving as a baseball analyst for Comcast SportsNet Bay Area the TV home station of the San Francisco Giants. Produced by Tiffany & Co. the 2010 San Francisco Giants World Series Champions Ring was designed with inspiration from the Giants 1933 World Series ring albeit a bit modernized. The Tiffany & Co. World Series championship ring is primarily made from sterling silver although it does boast some 14K yellow gold. The ring top holds the "SF" logo set with several round diamonds encircled by a bezel of yellow gold flanked by two round diamonds and the term "WORLD CHAMPIONS" in raised lettering. The perimeter contains more small round diamonds. One shank of the size 12.5/56 gram ring has the year "2010" flanking a yellow gold tower of the Golden Gate Bridge the iconic symbol for the city of San Francisco. The other shank includes "BLUE" in black across a ribbon that floats over a raised image of the World Series trophy. Within the top of the trophy is one mandarin orange spessartine garnet representing the San Francisco championship and at the base of the trophy are five diamonds representing the five New York championships. Within the band is engraved the results of the teams three successive 2010 post-season series wins: "SFG 3 - ATL 1 SFG 4 - PHI 2 SFG 4 - TEX 1. Also stamped inside the band is TIFFANY & CO. 925 which indicates that the ring is 92.5% sterling silver. This is a tremendous ring that represents the teams first ever baseball championship in San Francisco.
