Presented here is a gold winner's medal awarded to a player from the Brazil National team winner of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup. The eight edition of the tournament was held in South Africa from June 14-28 one year before the same nation hosted the 2010 World Cup. Brazil won their second straight Confed Cup Championship defending its 2005 title in Germany with a close 3-2 victory over a surprise U.S. squad in the Finals. It was Brazil's third Confed Cup title overall. Kaká and Luís Fabiano starred for Seleção (The National Squad) claiming the Golden Ball and Golden Shoe awards respectively. U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard was honored as the Golden Glove winner of the tournament.

The obverse of the medal features a relief image of the Confederations Cup trophy in the middle of "FIFA Confederations Cup"  and "South Africa 2009" around the perimeter. The reverse simply has "FIFA®" in raised lettering. The medal hangs on a blue FIFA ribbon. This gold-plated medal measures 50 mm in diameter and 5 mm thick and is identical to a previously offered example which sold in 2017 at Julien's for £10240 ($12698). In 2013 they began engraving "World Champion" to Confed Cup winner's medals.

Brazil also won the FIFA Fair Play Award given to the team who has the best fair play record during the tournament. In addition to winning the Confederations Cup and receiving gold champion's medals players received similar-looking gold-plated medals with blue ribbons. Measuring 48 mm and 3-4 mm thick the obverse has an abstract raised image of a soccer player with the title of the award in raised lettering. The reverse reads "FIFA" with two soccer ball globes. Both medals come in outstanding condition and were acquired from the anonymous player by the Brazil National Team's technical coordinator who has provided a letter of authenticity.
