Soon to be hall of fame inductee Derek Jeter wore this featured New York Yankees road jersey during his glorious 2009 championship season. In fact, it has been conclusively photo-matched to the 2009 Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. “The Captain” started at shortstop and batted second behind Ichiro for the American League squad, scoring two runs that turned out to be the difference in a tight 4-3 win over the Senior Circuit. The victory continued the Junior Circuit’s record streak of 13 straight games (12-0-1) without a loss to the NL and seventh straight since the league ruled that the Midsummer Classic winner would get home-field advantage in the World Series.

This proved crucial for Jeter and his Yankees teammates as they took the pennant and went on to defeat the Phillies in the Fall Classic in six games, clinching in front of the Bronx faithful in the inaugural season of new Yankee Stadium. 2009 was one of Jeter’s best seasons as he batted .334 with 212 hits, 107 runs scored, 18 homers, 66 RBI and 30 steals to claim both the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove awards. It was the third time he finished top three in MVP voting. More importantly, “El Capitan” got his fifth and final World Series ring.

The road gray jersey shows a significant amount of wear throughout, with moderate puckering and pilling and evidence of laundering that would indicate it had to be worn more than just one game. The right sleeve has the 2009 All-Star Game logo patch (likely sewn on after this shirt was already worn during the first half of the season), with the new Yankee Stadium Inaugural Season logo patch sewn on the left sleeve. Classic “NEW YORK” in navy block letters outlined in white adorns the front with Derek’s iconic No. “2” on the back in the same format. The knit button-down shirt is properly tagged by Majestic on the left front tail with size “48” and year “2009” flag tags. Jeter has autographed his back number in bold 9/10 silver marker. This is easily one of the finest Jeter gamers to own in the market and will become even more coveted among collectors when he is inducted into the Hall of Fame at the next ceremony.

The jersey was originally sourced from an individual who has direct memorabilia partnerships with MLB players and other pro athletes. The photo-matching was done by Real Game Used (RGU) and includes a letter pinpointing the area of the match. In addition, it comes with a letter from MEARS with a perfect A10 grade. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (T08367) for the signature.
