During the 2007 major league season Boston’s ace right-hander Josh Beckett put together a superb campaign. He led the American League in wins (20) posted 194 strikeouts over 200 innings and finished second in the A.L. voting for the Cy Young Award. Perhaps most importantly however he led the Red Sox to their second World Series title in four years. During Boston’s seven-game A.L.C.S. victory over Cleveland Beckett recorded two wins including a crucial Game 5 must-have win when the Red Sox were down three games to one in the series. For his efforts he was named MVP of the A.L.C.S. In the Red Sox’s subsequent sweep of the N.L. Champion Colorado Rockies in the Fall Classic Beckett pitched a six-hit nine K victory in Game 1 to set the pace.
This lot features Beckett’s game worn glove from that fruitful season. He wore it during the regular season and playoffs including the World Series. The black Reebok deer-tanned cowhide professional model glove (# VRPRO1275) shows extensive wear and includes “JOSH BECKETT” embroidered in white on the left thumb. Four different Reebok logos embroidered in white also adorn the outside of the glove. Beckett has signed the glove in silver and added the inscriptions “19” “2007 Game Used” and “20-7.” A terrific piece of signed game-used equipment from Boston’s ace in 2007. It can be matched to several game images.
