Offered here is a lovely, unused torch from the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics. Starting on December 8, 2005, the Olympic torch relay lasted 75 days and traversed over 11,300 km. In all, a total of 10,001 torchbearers carried the flame from Olympia, Greece to the Italian host city of Turin where it entered the Olympic Stadium on February 10, 2006.

Designed by Pininfarina of Torino, the unique look is intended to resemble the front of a ski as well as the Mole Antonelliana building in Turin. It is certainly a modern interpretation of the traditional wooden torch. With its sleek design, the Torino torch won the Lorenzo il Magnifico award, the highest prize from the Florence Biennale of Contemporary Art. Made of blue, techno-polymer-coated aluminum, it is curved to a length of 34.5 inches (88 cm) and weighs over 4 lbs. Stamped on the shaft is "torino 2006" with the logo from these Games and the five Olympic rings. The flame area on top has 13 holes for the fire to burn through, but this torch shows no signs of combustion. Most of the these come scuffed, scratched and significantly worn on the shaft and handle due to the blue coated surface area, but this one presents in essentially mint condition with no blemishes at all.

A great memento from snowboarding legend Shaun White's Olympic debut at age 19 when the "Flying Tomato" -- as he was dubbed by the Italian media -- took his first of three gold medals in the halfpipe. Includes its original gray carrying pouch as well as a black metal stand allowing it to prop up for ideal presentation. You will be hard-pressed to find a better one than this in the hobby.
