The Phillies slugging first baseman wore this stunning grey road jersey in 2006 a year in which he turned in what is arguably the greatest offensive season in the post-steroid era a qualification that instantly ranks his 58-homer 149 RBI and .313 batting average campaign among the finest in baseball history. To note that such an effort would elicit a Most Valuable Player Award seems positively redundant. He has also been the fastest to reach the 100 and 200 plateaus and after only nine seasons at the MLB level has already amassed 300 home runs and 920 RBIs. This grey button-down garment features "Phillies" embroidered in red chenille script-style characters to a white twill plate on the chest with the distinctive blue stars for the dots on the Is on either side. In red-on-white double tackle twill "6" is sewn to the back and to the left sleeve while "Howard" is arched atop the back number in like fashion. An MLB silhouette logo adorns the base of the neck and the left front tail is home to a sewn-in Majestic Size 54 label. The jersey shows good game use; the jersey appears to be in largely as-issued and problem-free condition with virtually no fraying of the red stitching either on the large No. 6 on the back and to a lesser extent to the smaller No. 6 on the left sleeve directly above the "Majestic" red embroidered logo. A black Sharpie Howard autograph graces the front of the shirt above the Majestic tag and includes lavish inscriptions stacked to six lines: "Soph Gamer .313 Avg. 58 HR's 149 RBI's M.V.P. 2006." Simply a superb artifact highlighting an historic offensive campaign that could go unmatched for decades.
