Drafted by the Mets in 2001 David Wright made his major league debut in 2004. Wright is a seven-time All-Star two-time Gold Glove Award winner two-time Silver Slugger Award winner and a member of the 3030 club. He holds Mets franchise records for most career runs batted in (RBIs) doubles total bases runs scored walks sacrifice flies times on base extra base hits strikeouts and hits. He was named captain of the Mets in 2013 the fourth in team history and was given the nickname "Captain America" after his performance for Team USA including a grand slam in the World Baseball Classic.

Employed in the 2006 season this 35.5 inch 31.1 ounce Rawlings model 456MR David Wright professional model bat exhibits evidence of heavy use with a very slight handle crack. Many ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the left and back barrel. Ball marks include blue ink transfers. Cleat marks are visible on the left barrel. Also visible on the bat are blue bat rack streaks and an impression from a weighted batting donut. There is a heavy coat of Mota Stick on the upper handle lower handle and center brand. The model number (456MR) order number (694) and year (06) are stamped into the knob. The weight '31' and 'Wright' are written on the knob in black ink. Wright's number (5) is written on the knob and top barrel in black marker. A David Wright signature his number '5' and the added inscription 'Game Used' are on the front barrel in blue marker.
