Michael Owen joined Newcastle United in the summer of 2005 as one of England's most celebrated forwards—a former FIFA World Player of the Year, Ballon d'Or winner, and a player who had previously starred at Liverpool, Real Madrid, and for the England national team at multiple World Cups before arriving at St. James' Park.
This Newcastle United home jersey from the 2006/07 Barclays Premiership season is constructed by Adidas in long-sleeve format in the club's iconic black-and-white vertical stripes, with black Adidas three-stripe panels running along the outside of each long sleeve and black ribbed cuffs. The magpie club crest is embroidered in gold at the right chest, with the Adidas logo applied at the left. The Northern Rock bank sponsor is applied in gold across the front. Barclays Premiership patches are fixed to both sleeves.
On the reverse, OWEN and number 10 are rendered in gold with Premier League lion watermarks incorporated within the numerals, consistent with English top-flight regulations of the era. The jersey has been laundered. Long-sleeve versions of this Adidas Newcastle United kit are substantially scarcer than short-sleeve counterparts, as considerably fewer were produced and issued throughout the season, making authenticated examples correspondingly harder to source in the secondary market.
