Already known as a scrappy and well-respected ballplayer in his playing days, Joe Torre found even more success as a big league manager. After cutting his teeth with dugout stints with the Mets, Braves and Cardinals, he reached the pinnacle of his career once he took over the helm of the New York Yankees in 1996. Torre brought championship baseball back to the Bronx, winning four World Series and six pennants. This classic Yankees home jersey was worn by Torre during the March 30, 2004 Opening Day Game that was held at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. Resolution Photomatching has definitively matched this jersey to photos and film of the March 30th game in Tokyo. The white pinstripe jersey shows just light wear. The iconic Yankees intertwined “NY” is on the front left chest in navy tackle twill with the Russell Athletic label in the lower left front tail and Ricoh patch on the right sleeve. Torre’s number “6” in navy blue tackle twill is on the back. The Yankees skipper has signed and dated the front of the jersey just below the “NY” in bold marker. A tremendous gamer worn by one of baseball’s most revered managers. The jersey comes with LOAs from Steiner, PSA/DNA, Resolution Photomatching, and MLB Authentics.
