The 2002 Oakland Raiders season marked the club’s 43rd year in existence and 33rd year in the NFL. Under the leadership of first-year head coach Bill Callahan, the Silver and Black clinched a third consecutive AFC West title with an 11–5 regular-season finish. The team is best remembered, however, for reaching the Super Bowl as they became the first Raiders squad in 19 years to reach professional football's center stage. They defeated the Tennessee Titans in the AFC title game, 41-24, before falling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the big game. A large part of the Raiders’ success that season was due to the team’s smothering defense, which held opponents to an average of 19 points per game.

Offered here is a 2002 Oakland Raiders 14K Gold AFC Champions ring presented to cornerback #38 Clarence Love, who appeared in 13 games during the regular season (starting three) and saw action in all three playoff games as well (including the Super Bowl). The face of the 14K gold player's ring features five genuine diamond studded footballs, the larger three representing the franchise’s three Super Bowl wins. This is all set atop a Black Onyx field that is slightly cracked. “OAKLAND RAIDERS" is on  the top, "AFC CHAMPIONS” is on the bottom (both in high relief), while both sides have five smaller cut diamonds. One shank features the name, position and uniform number “LOVE CORNERBACK 38” with the Raiders logo and the term “PRIDE” at the bottom. The other shank features a crown atop which is evenly space “67 * 76 * 80 *83” to indicate the team’s earlier AFC Championships followed by “2002” and the AFC logo positioned on top of a small banner reading” Team of the Decades.” Beneath that, the Super Bowl XXXVII logo can be found followed by the term “POISE” underneath. The ring size comes in size 11.25 and weighs 46 grams. Aside from the aforementioned crack in the Onyx stone (which can be repaired), the ring presents wonderfully with moderate wear.
