Born in London to working class parents and loyal Manchester United supporters, David Beckham lived the dream of an English footballer, playing for both Man U and his country. His club career would later take him to Real Madrid as a star member of Los Galácticos, then across the pond to the LA Galaxy where he became the face of Major League Soccer with a record-breaking salary.

For all his fame as an A-List celebrity footballer married to one of the Spice Girls, Beckham’s National Team tenure (1996-2009) was a bit of a roller coaster. It took years for many Brits to forgive his red card in the 1998 World Cup. Yet, the handsome midfielder with a golden right boot left an indelible legacy with The Three Lions. In 115 appearances (59 as Captain), Becks assisted on 36 goals and scored 17 himself, including several clutch bending free kicks that became his trademark.

Featured here is a David Beckham 2002 FIFA World Cup (Korea/Japan) match worn jersey from England’s narrow 2-1 loss to Brazil in the quarterfinals on June 21, 2002, in Shizuoka, Japan. Becks and company went ahead in the first half thanks to a goal by Michael Owen, but Ronaldinho’s brilliant brace before getting red carded for a bad tackle was enough to knock out the English side. Brazil went on to win its fifth World Cup title.

The white long-sleeved pullover with red and navy accents has the England National Team shield crest on the left chest with the logo of manufacturer Umbro on the right chest. Beckham’s iconic No. 7 appears on the front and back, with his last name arched across the upper back. All letters and numbers come in navy blue felt. Tagged within the collar as size XL, the jersey holds the key Umbro authentic licensed product label on the right shirttail. A 2002 FIFA World Cup Japan patch is embroidered on the right sleeve. “ENGLAND v BRAZIL 21-6-2002” is embroidered below the front number. The shirt exhibits the appropriate evidence of single game wear and has been washed post-use. Includes letter of authenticity from MEARS.
