In 2001, Alex Rodriguez joined the Texas Rangers after signing what was then the richest contract in sports history, a ten-year, $252 million deal. He responded with a season for the ages, leading the American League with 52 home runs, a record for a shortstop, along with 135 RBI and 133 runs scored.

This 2001 Upper Deck Evolve E-Card #JB-AR combines three of the most desirable elements in the hobby. It includes an on-card autograph, a piece of a game-used bat and a swatch of a game-used jersey. The bat piece is die-cut in the distinctive "e" shape of the Evolve logo, set beside a large swatch of royal blue Rangers jersey material against a gold and red design.

The front shows Rodriguez in his blue Rangers jersey at the plate, with his autograph signed boldly in blue ink across the lower portion of the card. The reverse features a smiling portrait of A-Rod and Upper Deck's certificate of authenticity, signed by CEO Richard McWilliam, which warrants that the signature is genuine and that the bat and jersey pieces were used by Rodriguez in an official MLB game.

The card has been authenticated by Beckett Grading Services, and the autograph has received a perfect 10 grade. Rodriguez went on to win three AL MVP awards, including in 2003 with Texas, and finished his career with 696 home runs. A striking triple-feature card of Alex Rodriguez from his first season in Texas. BGS Authentic, Beckett 10 Auto.
