Already an established star in Japan in 2001 Ichiro Suzuki came to America to try his luck in the country that invented the game. Joining the Seattle Mariners Ichiro quickly made highlight reels coast to coast when he threw out a batter trying to go from first to third on a single to him in right field. Ichiro’s tremendous play in getting the ball to third base became known simply as “The Throw.” Ichiro led the AL with both a .350 batting average and 56 stolen bases the first player to do so since Jackie Robinson did it 52 years earlier.

Worn by Ichiro during that historic 2001 season his grey jersey has “SEATTLE” across the front in navy teal and white tackle twill. Navy piping trims the collar and front and a Russell Athletic label is stitched in the lower left front tail. A size “48” label with “2001” is sewn below. The left sleeve carries the 2001 All-Star Game patch and the right sleeve has the 100th Anniversary of the American League patch. The back of the jersey features a grey name plate with “ICHIRO” and his number “51” in teal and navy tackle twill. A great double-patched jersey from the rookie season of a future Hall of Famer.
