Baseball’s all-time home run leader swung this special piece of lumber during the famous 2001 campaign in which he set MLB’s single-season record with 73 dingers. What Barry Lamar Bonds did that year in a Giants uniform was simply remarkable, even regardless of the steroid allegations. In only 476 official at-bats due to being pitched around so often that he walked 177 times, Bonds batted .328 and went deep every 6.5 at-bats, eventually surpassing Mark McGwire’s single-season mark of 70.The SAM Bat Company “Bonds 2K1” professional model bat remains uncracked with some ball marks and stitch impressions visible on the barrel, along with cleat marks and a weighted donut impression. The handle is taped in a spiral pattern to enhance grip, a common trait among Bonds clubs from the era. The maple bat is 34” long and weighs 32 ounces (according to PSA/DNA paperwork). Its measurables and other numeric info are written in pen on the cupped barrel end. The bat has been photo-matched by End-to-End Photo Match to Barry at the plate on July 14, 2001, against the Seattle Mariners. Includes full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA (graded GU 8) with the photo-match confirmed.
