This is an extraordinary full uniform from former major league pitcher and outfielder Rick Ankiel who played in parts of major league seasons from 1999 through 2013 for the St. Louis Cardinals Kansas City Royals Atlanta Braves Washington Nationals Houston Astros and New York Mets. Ankiel was a pitcher with the Cardinals from 1999 until 2004 when he lost his ability to throw strikes consistently. After trying to regain his pitching form in the minor leagues he switched to the outfield in early 2005 returning to the Cardinals on August 9 2007. As a Cardinal (19992009) Ankiel hit 47 home runs as an outfielder and two as a pitcher thus becoming the first player since Babe Ruth to have won at least 10 games as a pitcher and also hit at least 50 home runs. Ankiel is also the only player other than Ruth to both start a postseason game as a pitcher and hit a home run in the postseason as a position player. His change of position and the fact that he played for six teams in a five-season span suggest that Ankiel's playing history represents one of most unusual careers in baseball history.

This blazing white home uniform traces its roots to that remarkable 2000 campaign Ankiels finest as a pitcher when he finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting with an 11-7 mark 3.50 ERA and 194 strikeouts in 175 innings pitch numbers that ended up representing about ¾ of his career totals. The shirt has the appropriate Majestic Authentic tagging on the inside front tail with Size 46 and Set 1 2000 flag tags attached. The famed Cardinals Birds on Bat chenille logo embroidered in red black and yellow appears across the front; Ankiels No. 66 appears front and back in red on black tackle twill. Ankiel appears across the back shoulders in the same fashion affixed to a white nameplate; directly above is the iconic MLB embroidered logo patch. Below his No. 66 on the back Ankiel has added a black Sharpie autograph along with his No. 66 inscription. The accompanying pants show similar light game use and have the appropriate Rawlings tagging at the back of the waist with white strip tag with 36-37 32 99 1 alongside. A rather dramatic hole has been torn at the back of the pants on the right well below the pocket.
