Despite ending the regular season with its ball club struggling mightily the 2000 Yankees squad promptly put things into high gear in the playoffs dumping Oakland in five games in the ALDS stopping Seattle in the ALCS in six games and then swatting their crosstown rivals the New York Mets in a much-ballyhooed resurrection of the idea of a Subway Series. The World Series win the teams 26th at that point in their incredible history was the fourth world title in a five-year span. Adding to the already incredible luster of the baseball the 2000 season for the Yankees was also noteworthy in that the ball club added an amazing group of great players from other teams that complemented nicely with the core group that anchored the dynasty. This historic ball an official MLB Selig 2000 World Series version boasts 29 signatures from a record-setting club that boasts of a roster including the likes of Mariano Rivera Bernie Williams Andy Pettitte Jorge Posada Tino Martinez Paul ONeill Orlando Hernandez Chuck Knoblauch Alfonso Soriano Roger Clemens Dwight Gooden David Justice Jose Canseco Shane Spencer Roberto Kelly et. al. As a roster there are three Hall of Famers already installed or headed to Cooperstown and eight or nine others who can make a pretty good case for their own enshrinement. Speaking of which Hall of Fame manager Joe Torre has signed on the sweet spot sharing the honors with another Hall of Famer (2020) Derek Jeter; a minuscule edition size of 24/26 is penned in the same ballpoint alongside the Official World Series Ball trademark.
