This lot offers an excellent 1999 Sammy Sosa professional model bat. The Rawlings 'Big Stick' model exhibits great wear including multiple ball markings on the barrel and a nice tape job. Sosa autographed the barrel in silver permanent marker for excellent eye appeal. An inscription of "60/60" has also been added in Sosa's hand. Slammin' Sammy had an All-Star year in 1999 for the Chicago Cubs, smacking 63 home runs, 180 hits, and 141 RBIs. Rawlings model 170B Sammy Sosa professional model bat is un-cracked and shows evidence of excellent use. Slight checking (grain swelling) from repeated ball contact is visible on the right barrel. Several ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the right, left, and back barrel. Ball marks include white leather scuffs. The handle has been taped in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip and there is a light coat of Mota Stick on the lower handle. The model number (170B), order number (045), and year (99) are stamped into the knob. A Sammy Sosa signature and the added inscription '66/60' are written on the right barrel in silver marker.
