In 1999, the Yankees secured their 25th World Series title to pass the NHL’s Montreal Canadians for most championships by a major North American professional sports team. New York went 98-64 during the regular season and dropped just one game in the playoffs (Boston, ALCS), sweeping the Braves in the Fall Classic. It was a fitting way to wrap up the 20th century for the storied franchise.
This Official 1999 World Series (Selig) baseball holds 21 signatures including Hall of Famers Derek Jeter (6/10) and manager Joe Torre (9/10) on the sweet spot in blue ballpoint. Other notables include Bernie Williams, Darryl Strawberry, David Cone, Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez, Chuck Knoblauch, Jim Leyritz, Clay Bellinger, Mike Stanton, Luis Sojo, Chad Curtis, Shane Spencer, Ramiro Mendoza, Jeff Nelson, Chris Chambliss (coach) and Don Zimmer (coach). The ball remains in good shape but most autographs have faded quite a bit. Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA
