Mark McGwire hit 583 home runs during his 16-year career with the Oakland A's and St. Louis Cardinals, and he currently sits 11th on the all-time HR list. This bat was used by Big Mac with the Cards in 1999 when he led the league in homers for the fifth time, blasting 65 a year after his 70 passed Roger Maris' single-season mark. In fact, McGwire swung this 34.5", 33.3-oz. piece of lumber to hit his 48th and 49th long balls of the '99 campaign -- numbers 505 and 506 of his career. Mac has signed the barrel with the inscription, “To Adam, -- HRs 48, 49 -- 8-18 8-22-99" in bold black marker.

The Rawlings Adirondack Big Stick professional model ash bat is un-cracked and displays outstanding game use with ball marks, stitch impressions, ink transfers, and cleat marks visible on the barrel. There is a heavy coat of pine tar running from the handle past the center brand. The knob end is stamped with the model number “MAC25" and "642 99” [order code and year], with “33 McGwire” penned in black to denote the bat's weight. An awesome part of baseball history attributed to two McGwire home runs. Includes two PSA/DNA LOAs: one from John Taube of PSA/DNA who has given it a perfect GU 10 grade; the other for the autograph and and inscription.
