The greatest season of Shaquille O'Neal’s Hall of Fame career came in 1999-2000 when the 7' 1", 350-lb. center completed the rare trifecta: NBA scoring champion, league MVP and Finals MVP. Only three others have accomplished this, the most recent being Shai Gilgeous-Alexander last season for OKC. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar did it in 1971 with the Bucks. Michael Jordan is the only player to do it more than once – an incredible four times with the ‘90s Bulls.

The Los Angeles Lakers went 67-15 in the regular season led by the dominant one-two punch of O’Neal and Kobe Bryant. But it was still Shaq’s team at that stage of young Kobe’s career, and he guided the “Lake Show” all the way to the Larry O’Brien trophy, culminating with a six-game victory over Indiana in the Finals. Shaq averaged a career-high 29.7 points to win the NBA scoring title. He also averaged 13.6 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, and a career-best 3.8 assists per game. In the Finals, he upped his scoring and rebounding to 38.0 and 16.7, respectively, going over 40 points three times and grabbing 20-plus boards twice. The Lakers began their epic Three-Peat run and there was no disputing who the best basketball player in the world was at that time.

This humongous L.A. Lakers road purple full uniform was worn by Shaq during his most accomplished season. On the front left tail is the Nike manufacturer’s tag flanked by NBA Authentics and Lakers team labels, with size 60 and a "LENGTH +6 MADE IN USA" flag tag in the middle. Inside the lower left seam are two tags with “1999-00” and washing instructions. On the top left chest is the official NBA embroidered logo patch. Across the front is "LAKERS" and on the back is “O’NEAL” both done in gold-on-white tackle twill. Shaq’s jersey number "34” appears front and back in white-on-gold tackle twill. A black memorial armband on the left shoulder strap is in honor of Wilt Chamberlain who passed away right before the start of the season.

The matching purple trunks come in size 54 with proper Nike and Lakers team labeling on the rear waistband. Shaq’s No. “34” is handwritten in black marker on the jock tag. Both items exhibit solid game usage throughout, with evidence of being laundered and worn multiple times.

An included NBA letter of authenticity from the Miami Heat documents the jersey as being “obtained during a game against the Heat.” The Lakers visited Miami once on March 20, 1999, beating the Heat by a score of 100-89. Shaq had 28 points and 12 rebounds in that contest. It came at the end of a five-game road trip during which O’Neal scored 40, 40, 35, 43 and 28 points. The Lakers also wore their road unis on March 6th when Shaq scored a career-high 61 points with 23 boards in a 123-103 win over the Clippers at Staples Center. MEARS has authenticated the jersey and given it a perfect A10 grade for its “heavy” use and strong provenance.
