Here we have Rodney Peete's game used Philadelphia Eagles helmet from the 1998 season. Peete was a 1st team All-America selection at USC and the first Trojan to win the Johnny Unitas Award as the nation's best Senior quarterback. He finished 2nd to Barry Sanders in the 1988 Heisman voting. Peete as a heck of an athlete in his day as he was drafted by MLB teams on four different occasions. He settled on a 14-year career in the NFL used as a starter and backup for six teams including most notably the Lions Eagles and Panthers.
This Riddell size 7 3/8 game-worn helmet shows great wear with scratches and rub marks throughout the green shell. The white black and gray Eagle wing decal is featured on each side with a significant puncture on the left decal indicating more game-use. "Riddell" is lettered across the custom front bumper and "EAGLES" is stamped along the back bumper. The NFL shield and warning label appears on the rear of the shell along with a 'PEETE' dymo label. The helmet is complete with AF-2 padding inside and Velcro next to each earhole to station the headset from which he received the play call. It comes with his original black facemask and white Riddell chinstrap all completely intact. Overall this awesome game-used helmet is largely as-issued and problem-free.
Includes a letter of provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
