In 1998 perennial All-Star catcher Mike Piazza made the rounds. Starting the season with his original team the Los Angeles Dodgers Piazza was involved in a multi-team trade that saw him land with the Florida Marlins for less than two weeks before being traded to the New York Mets. For the entire 98 campaign which included just five games and 18 at-bats with the Marlins Piazza batted .328 with 32 home runs and 111 runs batted in. As a backstop that season he posted a .990 fielding percentage. This lot includes a game-used Rawlings catchers mitt that Piazza wore during the 98 season. The Mike Piazza professional model mitt (PRO-CMJ) shows game use and includes his name embroidered in gold across the outside of the thumb area. This is a very cool Gold Glove series mitt from the man who hit the most home runs ever for a catcher with 396. He finished his career with 427 round-trippers but some of those were hit while playing at first base or as a Designated Hitter.
