Prior to the start of the 1998-99 NBA season which was delayed by a four month lockout the Washington Wizards traded Chris Webber to the Sacramento Kings for Mitch Richmond and Otis Thorpe. Richmond as it turned out had a solid season averaging 19.7 points per game while Wizards point guard Rod Strickland finished second in the league with 9.9 assists per game. However the Wizards continued to underachieve as they finished sixth in the Atlantic Division with a disappointing 18-32 record.
This lot features a pair of 1998-99 Washington Wizards road jerseys worn by the aforementioned teammates. Both Nike blue mesh jerseys Richmonds size 48 with Length +4 and Stricklands size 44 with Length + 4 strip tag show game use with some signs of perspiration. On the left tail of either jersey is the proper Nike manufacturers tag alongside size tags and an official Wizards tag. Both jerseys read WIZARDS across the front in white tackle twill outlined in rust and black. The official NBA logo patch rests on either left shoulder strap. Each of the jerseys show the featured players name RICHMOND or STRICKLAND arched across the back of the shoulders in white tackle twill outlined in rust while their respective player uniform numbers (2 for Richmond and 1 for Strickland) appear on the front and back of the jerseys in white tackle twill outlined in rust and black. Both jerseys sport a three-inch-wide black strip down the left seam outlined in rust.
