Before getting bumped from the NHL playoffs by the Boston Bruins the 1998-99 Carolina Hurricanes took first place in the NHLs Southeast Division with a record of 34-30-18. 27-year-old defenseman and team enforcer Dave Karpa was part of that team. This lot offers Karpas game-worn and autographed Hurricanes road jersey from that fruitful season. The size 54 Starter jersey includes proper tagging on the inside rear collar consisting of the Center Ice Authentic Starter tag followed by the Starter NHL tag and the actual size 54-R tag. The front of the jersey boasts the oversized Hurricanes logo while Karpas uniform number 33 is found on the back as well as both sleeves in white tackle twill outlined in black. A smaller Hurricanes patch appears on either sleeve. On the inside rear tail of the jersey is a special white stamp reversed out on the black portion of the jersey that reads OFFICIAL CAROLINA HURRICANES 2nd SET 1998-99 SEASON thats positioned next to a white Hurricanes logo. Karpa has signed the first 3 on the back of the jersey in black marker and has added 33 and 2000 next to his autograph. The jersey reflects light to moderate wear.
Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum. Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
