The 1996 season was another stellar one for San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young. He helped lead the Niners to a 12-4 record, good for a Wild Card berth. The Niners blanked the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card Game before falling to the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round. For his efforts during the 1996 season, Young earned his fifth of seven consecutive trips to the 1997 Pro Bowl.
Offered is the jersey worn by Young during the Pro Bowl at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii on February 2, 1997. The white and blue Wilson jersey has Young’s number “8” on the front in red, white, and blue along with the 1997 Pro Bowl patch sewn on the left chest. The back has “YOUNG” across the shoulders in white tackle twill on a blue name plate that matches the blue at the top of the jersey. His number “8” is below in red, white, and blue tackle twill. The jersey shows some use on the front and has been graded an A5 by MEARS. The MEARS letter states the jersey shows moderate use consistent with the player and position.
