Hall of Fame right-hander Greg Maddux was a dominant major league pitcher who collected 355 wins over his long 23-year career. Originally a member of the Chicago Cubs Maddux won four National League Cy Young Awards the last three of which were earned during his 11 seasons with the Atlanta Braves (1993 to 03). This lot features Madduxs 1997 autographed and game-worn Braves road jersey and a pair of his game-worn Braves pants from the 1998 season. The size 44 Russell Athletic Authentic Diamond Collection jersey includes the proper manufacturing tagging on the front left tail next to which are two strip tags one reading 100% Polyester and the other indicating 2 EXTRA LENGTH. Stretched across the front of the gray jersey is Atlanta in slanted script in red on blue tackle twill right above the Braves tomahawk logo also in red on blue tackle twill with gold highlights. The Braves trademark stripe of red-and-navy-blue piping runs right up the middle the length of the jersey and around the collar. On the right sleeve is the embroidered Jackie Robinson 50th Anniversary Breaking Barriers patch. The jersey reflects game use and includes Madduxs signature on the back in black marker across the top of the 3 in his uniform number 31. His numbers which measure 8.5 tall are in red on blue tackle twill. His gray sewn-on nameplate MADDUX sports navy blue tackle twill letters semi-circle fashion across the back.
The accompanying gray pants (size 34) sport the official Russell Athletic manufacturers tag stitched into the inside of the waistband right next to a separate sewn-on white tag reading 31 MADDUX 34-27-98 indicating his jersey number name waist inseam and season. The Braves trademark stripe of red-and-navy-blue piping runs the length of either pant leg and wraps around the individual belt loops on the waist. Pants reflect moderate game use.
Autograph is pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
