This lot presents a striking game-worn and autographed home jersey from the extraordinary career and life of Tony Gwynn one of the most popular National League stars of the modern era and one of the finest hitters the game has ever known. This signed white button-down pinstriped 1996 San Diego Padres home jersey features Gwynns signature in blue Sharpie on the back below his No. 19 with 96 All-Star Game inscription added below. The jersey features Padres across the front and Gwynns No. 19 on the back in navy blue-and-white on orange tackle twill. Gwynn appears across the back of the jersey in navy blue tackle twill sewn directly to the shirt. The front tail of the jersey features a RUSSELL ATHLETIC manufacturers tag with size 50 and a fabric content flag tag below. The left sleeve of the jersey features the embroidered San Diego Padres logo patch while the right sleeve features the 1996 All-Star Game patch above a stitched navy blue Russell logo. Jersey shows game use and is problem-free and without visible alteration or repair of any description. This is a key artifact from the All-Star Game from a revered figure who appeared in a total of 15 of them in his fabled Hall of Fame career. Comes with an LOA from the Family of Tony Gwynn.
