In 1996 the New York Yankees captured their first World Series title since 1978 by defeating the National League Champion Atlanta Braves in six games. This is the smaller version of the coveted trophy that is awarded to the World Series champion every year. It is arranged upon a 2.5-inch tall 7.25-inch in diameter wooden base whose surrounding gold-colored band reads "WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS NEW YORK YANKEES 1996." Atop the black base a 5"-diameter gold-colored band has a silver-colored baseball at its base and a very detailed crown figure at the top. Standing prominently at the front of the display are press pin replicas representing the respective World Series combatants the Yankees and Braves. Surrounding the base are 28 gold-colored flags that in alphabetical order bear the names of each Major League Baseball team; the banners gradually ascend in size from 5.5 to 9.5 tall. Trophy seems to be very well preserved and problem-free.
