This 1996 New York Yankees World Series ring produced by Balfour was originally presented to a front-office official. The 10K gold ring features 23 small diamonds set with the teams familiar "NY" logo which in turn rests upon a blue stone. "World Champions 1996" appears along the perimeter in relief. The right shank features the recipients name "Diaz" a depiction of the World Series trophy and two engraved banners reading Courage and Heart respectively. The left shank features a design comprised of the Yankee Stadium facade the team's logo and an engraved banner that reads Tradition. The weight of the gold 10K and the manufacturers initials LGB are each engraved along the interior band of the Size 12 ring made with 41.11 grams of solid gold. The 1996 season marked the start of the fabled club's greatest championship string since the incredible run from 1949-64 as the team went on to win four World Championships in five years. New York Yankees World Series rings from the 1990's are very rarely seen on the open market given the extraordinary wealth of modern ballplayers and the usual absence of traditional economic incentives to ever part with them. The offering of an executive ring such as this is a very rare exception. The ring and accompanying original 3 1/2-inch-square wood presentation box are in essentially as-issued and problem-free condition.
