The great Dan Marino one of the most decorated quarterbacks in Miami Dolphins' and NFL history played his entire pro career in South Beach and led the 'Fins to the Super Bowl in just his second season. Through 17 seasons of lining up behind center for Miami he passed for a total of 61361 yards and threw an astounding 420 touchdowns both of which ranked first in league history upon his retirement in 1999 at the age of 38.
This lot features Marino's game-worn and autographed Miami Dolphins home jersey from the 1996 season a campaign in which he threw for 2795 yards in 13 games and connected on 17 touchdown passes. The aqua-colored Wilson (size 50) nylon/mesh jersey includes proper manufacturer's tagging on the inside rear collar along with a sewn-on tag reading "96" to indicate the season. Marino's trademark uniform number "13" can be found on the front and back as well as across both shoulders in white tackle twill fashion outlined in orange. His sewn-on nameplate "MARINO" appears across the back of the shoulder blades in similar tackle twill fashion. The Dolphins ironed-on logo appears on both sleeves and so does the Wilson embroidered "W" while the official NFL embroidered crest is sewn onto the bottom of the V-neck in front. The jersey which Marino has signed in black and inscribed "13" on the reverse side number "1" shows substantial wear and even sports a significant tear underneath the right sleeve.
