This lot features a nice pairing of framed New York Yankees team-signed, on-field celebration photographs taken just after clinching the 1996 and 1998 World Series titles.
The 1996 World Series photo shows closer John Wetteland and catcher Joe Girardi about to embrace after the final out is recorded against the Braves in Game 6. It holds 24 autographs including Hall of Famers Joe Torre, Mariano Rivera, Wade Boggs, Tim Raines and Derek Jeter (soon-to-be inducted) as well as Wetteland ("1996 W.S. M.V.P."), Girardi, Andy Pettitte, Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada, Tino Martinez, David Cone, Doc Gooden, Darryl Strawberry, Cecil Fielder, Jimmy Key, Charlie Hayes, Mike Aldrete, David Weathers, Luis Sojo, Jim Leyritz and Don Zimmer. The 14" by 20" photo is nicely matted within a 20" by 27" frame. Signatures come in a faded black marker ranging 4-6/10.
The 1998 World Series photo shows the team dog-pile after the final out is recorded against the Padres in Game 4. It holds 21 autographs including Hall of Famers Joe Torre, Mariano Rivera, Tim Raines and Derek Jeter (soon-to-be inducted) as well as Paul O'Neill, Joe Girardi, Jorge Posada, Tino Martinez, Chili Davis, David Cone, Orlando Hernandez, Darryl Strawberry, Chuck Knoblauch, Mike Stanton, Ricky Ledee, Shane Spencer, Luis Sojo, Jeff Nelson and Ramiro Mendoza. The 16" by 20" photo is nicely matted within a 22" by 26" frame. Signatures come in a blue marker ranging 5-7/10.
