Adam Oates played 19 seasons in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings St. Louis Blues Boston Bruins Washington Capitals Philadelphia Flyers Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Edmonton Oilers. Known as an elite playmaker his career total of 1079 assists was the fifth highest in NHL history at the time of his 2004 retirement. This wonderful jersey dates to 1996-97 when Oates joined the Capitals late in the season along with Rick Tocchet and Bill Ranford and one year later helped lead the Capitals to their first Stanley Cup Finals appearance.

This blazing white air-knit home gamer by CCM boasts the embroidered "JB" patch sewn to the left shoulder area in honor of the passing of long-time Washington Capitals executive Jack "Bulldog" Button. The shirt has the striking bald eagle patch at the center above "Capitals" diagonally across the blue highlighted section with the latter in white blue black and bronze tackle twill the same color alignment for the sleeve and collar accents. "Oates" appears on the back in black white and bronze tackle twill affixed to a white nameplate; his No. 77 is done in the same fashion on shoulders and back. CCM and the NHL shield embroidered logos are affixed to the bottom of the tail in the back. The game use on this sweater consists of a couple stick and slash marks on the front and some fraying of the back nameplate stitching.

Comes with a Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
