Arguably the greatest hitting catcher in baseball history Mike Piazza can thank his godfather Tommy Lasorda for getting a shot to play pro ball in 1988 when the Dodgers' skipper urged by Piazza's father advised the team to draft his godson in the 62nd round. The rest as they say is history. Piazza won the Rookie of the Year in 1992 and ultimately became the all-time leader in home runs by a catcher with 427. This 1995 Los Angeles Dodgers road gray All-Star jersey was worn by the slugging catcher in the Summer Classic that season. The game took place at The Ballpark in Arlington as denoted by the 'Texas Rangers All-Star Game 1995' patch on the right sleeve. Piazza fittingly blasted a seventh inning home run while wearing this beauty tying the score in a game the NL would eventually win.
The classic 'Dodgers' logo with Piazza's No. '31' covers the front in Dodger blue tackle twill with white outline. 'PIAZZA' and '31' are sewn on the back in the same form. Tagged inside the back tail is 'Russell Athletic Diamond Collection [size] 50' with a '100% polyester' flag tag. Piazza has signed the front left chest in 8-9/10 black Sharpie. Shows good wear all-around and is essentially as-issued with no alterations.
Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from National League President Leonard S. Coleman Jr. himself.
