From the Atlanta Braves third World Series-winning season in 1995 comes this sparkling game-worn alternate jersey worn by John Smoltz one of the key members of a famed Atlanta pitching staff that may end up with three of their ilk earning plaques in Cooperstown. Certainly there's an impressive case to be made for Smoltz that rare hurler who achieved great success as both a starter and as a reliever. After a dozen standout years as a starter through the 1980's including a 24-8 and 276-strikeout high point in 1996 that produced a Cy Young Award an injury in 2000 forced him to undergo Tommy John surgery and prompted a change to reliever status the next year. For the next four years he averaged nearly 40 saves per season then returned to the starting rotation and excelled once more. He became only the second pitcher in history to have had both a 20-win season and a 50-save season (the other being Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley) the only pitcher in major league history to top both 200 wins and 150 saves and a member of the 3000 strikeout club. With "Braves" angled across the chest in script on red-on-white double tackle twill and the iconic Braves Tomahawk below in the same configuration with attractive black and gold embroidery the jersey features Smoltz's No. 29 sewn to the back in the same red-on-white tackle twill. The Rawlings white embroidered "R" logo appears on the right sleeve on the dark blue alternate jersey.Situated on the left front inside tail is a Russell Athletic manufacturer's label denotes Size 48 with a "S95" flag tag attached and a small adjoining fabric content tag. The standout shirt shows game use and is problem free.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
