Different pieces of equipment can have varying significance depending upon the player involved. Unless you're Sandy Koufax having a signed bat from a pitcher might not be the most compelling artifact but having signed cleats from the speedster Rickey Henderson. Before he developed as a genuine power hitter a bit later in his career Henderson pretty much rewrote the record book and all the tactical and strategic manuals as well concerning base running. In his first six seasons with Oakland as a youngster he led the league in steals five times and topped the 100 mark in three of those occasions including the mind-numbing record total of 130 in 1992. By the time he returned to Oakland in 1994 for his second go-around the Hall of Fame plaque was long since in the bag. This nifty pair of Oakland A's Mizuno spikes dates to that return year of the prodigal son an absolute stunning pair in terms of game use to say nothing of attractive blue Sharpie Henderson autographs that appear on the outside of each heel along with his year inscription "'94."

The white-leather shoes despite the extraordinary use remain intact and largely problem-free. Also included in the lot is a game-worn "Rickey" green-and-gold wristband a suitable complement to the cleats.

Comes with a COA from Man of Steal Sports Henderson's memorabilia company run by his longtime personal memorabilia manager Mike Weiss. The shoes and wristband are part of Bill Albert's Rickey Henderson collection. Albert worked as a staff photographer for the San Jose Giants minor league baseball club (Giants single A affiliate) and did freelance photography for the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's developing relationships with many Bay Area professional athletes. He acquired most if not all of his Rickey items through Mike Weiss and Man of Steal Sports.
